We’re pleased to announce that Helen Akoni has joined the Loft team as our product lead in digital health.
Helen brings with her a decade of experience designing and developing healthcare IT systems – with particular expertise in the field of ophthalmology. This includes a strong background in user engagement, requirements analysis and system design, project management, implementation, clinical data migrations, data reporting and visualisation. Helen has an MSc in Health Informatics from the University of Leeds and a degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Helen. She has a vast amount of knowledge and expertise in digital health, and a huge drive to find ways in which we can use technology to improve systems, data management and patient outcomes in the health service. She’s going to fit right in,” says Nick Nettleton, CEO of Loft.
Helen’s appointment underlines Loft’s commitment to the digital health sector. Not only will she be helping us develop the MyEyeSite application for patients with rare eye diseases, but she will be looking at ways we can further advance Loft’s digital health platform capabilities, working in partnership with other organisations to offer transformative solutions in many areas of healthcare.
“Loft is an open company where everyone is encouraged to think about what they’re doing, ask questions and make improvements,” says Helen. “It’s great to see a company with expertise in scalable, cloud-based systems coming into digital health, with a strong technical focus combined with a strong focus on understanding the user.”
